Welcome from MYP Coordinator
Primary School
Secondary School
Dear Students, Parents and Guests,
Welcome from the MYP Programme at Global Jaya. My name is Ibu Sue Menand, and I have the pleasure of serving as the MYP Coordinator at GJS. I believe that the core of the MYP prepares students to be not only creative and critical thinkers, but to deepen their understanding of their place in the world through international mindedness and service as action.
At GJS, the MYP plays a critical role in bridging the educational journey of our students who join us from the Primary Years Programme (PYP) and then move on to the Diploma Programme (DP) in year 11. The MYP not only teaches knowledge, but also focuses on the Approaches to Learning Skills of communication, thinking, research, self-management, and social skills. As a result, MYP students at GJS learn interdisciplinary approaches to problem solving. Additionally, at GJS, we define learning as the “. . . lasting growth, change and development of knowledge, skills, understanding, and behaviour,” and we can think of no better programme than the MYP to help our students and teachers live that definition. At GJS, students complete the MYP in Years 7-10 (approximate ages 12-16) before moving on to become successful IB Diploma Programme students.
The culmination of the MYP is the Year 10 Personal Project where students explore their own personal learning goals to research and inquire about what interests them as learners. They demonstrate their learning by creating a project that they communicate to others while also reflecting on their own personal learning journey. The Personal Project is certainly a highlight of the MYP.
I encourage you to explore the MYP at Global Jaya School, where all educators are passionate about helping all students succeed. Please reach out to me with any questions.
Warm regards,
Ibu Sue Menand
