Global Jaya School - Graduation Requirement
A Global Jaya Graduation Certificate will be granted to GJS students who have met the conditions listed below. These conditions are determined by the school and are not contingent on any externally assessed examinations. These conditions are in no way connected to the requirements of the IB Diploma, nor are they an indicator of obtention of certificates or diplomas from the International Baccalaureate Organisation.
GJS Graduation Certificate
CONDITIONS FOR ALL YEAR 12 STUDENTS:
1. Achieve an average score of ‘3.5’ points or above in a minimum of 4 IB Diploma subjects throughout the 2-year programme.
2. Satisfactory completion of requirements for:
a. Creativity, Activity and Service (CAS)
b. Theory of Knowledge
3. Consistent lesson attendance throughout the two-year programme, keeping under the maximum of 19 absences*.
GJS Graduation Certificate with Honors
1. CONDITIONS FOR FULL DP STUDENTS:
Achieve an average score of ‘4’ points or above in 6 IB Diploma subjects throughout the 2-year programme, with no score lower than ‘3’ on any Year 12 report.
2. CONDITIONS FOR DP COURSES STUDENTS:
Achieve an average score of ‘5’ points or above in 4 or more IB Diploma subjects throughout the 2-year programme.
3. Satisfactory completion of requirements for:
a. Creativity, Activity and Service
b. Theory of Knowledge (for students graduating in 2018 and onward) c. Extended Essay (FULL DP STUDENTS ONLY)
4. Consistent lesson attendance throughout the two-year programme, keeping under the maximum of 19 absences*.
GJS Graduation Transcript
All GJS students are entitled to a school transcript upon completion of their final academic year. The transcript is an official record of the subjects taken and marks achieved. *Based on GJS ATTENDANCE POLICY
Approved absences in Senior Secondary are granted solely under these circumstances:
● school sanctioned events approved by a Principal or the HOS: field trips, sporting games, examinations, competitions, university fairs, internships, study leaves and relevant educational opportunities
● absence with a supporting medical certificate clearly noting the day(s) of absence as well as details of the reason for the absence
● matters involving immediate family members: visa, bereavement, wedding
● matters of force majeur such as: accidents, natural disasters, political unrest
Approved absences do not count toward the condition of 19 absences maximum.
Students with 20 or more unapproved absences do not qualify for a graduation certificate, although they are still entitled to a school transcript.
GJS understands the importance of family gatherings, outings and trips; however, these cannot be considered as an approved absence and will be counted toward the maximum of 19 days.
The above rights may be withheld pending fulfillment of all administrative responsibilities.
